Modern four square

Designed by Roussa Cassel/ Artisans Group

Completed 2012

This super-insulated residence (with artist’s studio and detached workshop) is quietly tucked into a narrow and steeply wooded site on one side while gesturing out to the Puget Sound with a dramatic Galvalume shed roof. Finishes include reclaimed wood trim, chalkboard slate countertops rescued from an old high school, linoleum and cork floors, triple-pane fiberglass windows and doors. It also emphasizes air quality with low-VOC paint and a heat recovery ventilator. A solar hot water system was installed and the home was wired for future PV. Compact, energy and resource efficient, and built to last several lifetimes- this home is a model of sustainability and durability.
